We are excited to announce our official 501(c)(3) status! This officially happened on July 20, 2020. What an incredible moment for the Galveston County Continuum of Care Council as we’ve been taking the steps to bring about formation.

What brought us to this moment?

The passionate dedication of 20 nonprofit leaders from around Galveston County who came to a common table in April saying, “Something different needs to happen”. They saw the increasingly high poverty levels with an upcoming hurricane season - on top of that, a pandemic was rising quickly. It was through their leadership that they began the formation of the organization.  

By May, they formed the organization’s Board of Directors and continued necessary formation. And by June they hired their first staff, the Director of Operations.

Little steps of dedication and led to this monumental moment and we want to pause today to celebrate this. Achievements like this, cannot be done alone.

As Virginia Burden says, “Cooperation is the thorough conviction that nobody can get there unless everybody gets there.”
